Walls and Aldobrandeschi Fortress
The double circle of walls was probably built by the Aldobrandeschi family and would therefore date from the 11th century.

The city had many lords and rulers, among them the Sienese. It is to the Sienes Repubblic that it owes the inscription adorning the main gate to the town that reads “I am Capalbio, made happy and safe by the Sienese lion”. The castle was built during the period of the first settlement.
